BURNT COUNTERTOP
CASE STUDY
How an Apartment Building Maintenance Worker Becomes a Hero!

The Problem

An apartment building maintenance employee inspecting a vacated apartment the last day of the month found a terrible burn on the laminated kitchen countertop left by the previous tenant. The maintenance worker called us in a panic because the apartment was rented the next day on the first of the month!

Knowing how to repair a problem of this magnitude was beyond the worker's expertise. He originally thought the best plan would be to replace the countertop, but with the new tenant arriving the next day, there was simply not enough time.

Luckily, he contacted Dayton Surface Repair!

The Work

Because we carry a stocked vehicle for all hard surfaces, our technician was ready to repair the burnt countertop immediately.

He first removed the burned area by lifting the damage off and then filling the space with a resin filler.

The hard surface repair technician was able to match the color found throughout the laminate by adding filler detail before finishing with a countertop sealer.

The countertop pattern was carefully matched, which is the tricky part, but our highly trained technicians have the knowledge and skill to replicate the finest of details.

The Result

The apartment maintenance worker was amazed. He understood what it would have taken to replace the countertop; an impossible task since the new tenant was moving in the very next day!

Having to replace the countertop would have resulted in removing the stove and sink requiring gas shutoff and plumbing issues at more expense.

The cost of replacement would have resulted in hundreds of dollars, time, and resources, and a very upset new tenant!

The maintenance worker was happy to report to the apartment owner how the countertop was repaired like new, and more critically, how the repair was done quickly enabling the new tenant to move in as planned.

He became the hero of the day for coordinating our hard surface repair service, which saved the apartment owner money by not having to replace the countertop and having the apartment rented without missing a beat.
